- The AGILE 4.0 AC5 showed how the industry standards and procedures to demonstrate compliance with the certification specification concerning lightning indirect effect (LIE) can be integrated in the preliminary design process.
- The fidelity and level of details of the LIE analyses and models necessary to be compliant with the certification specification demand high computational resources, comparable to CFD analysis.
- In a structural design process, where aircraft planform and On-Board System positions are fixed, the LIE determine the qualification level of the avionics items and therefore their costs, whereas it has a limited impact on structural sizing and thermal risks.
